Laser Hair Removal in Tarzana California
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Interested in removing your unwanted body hair for good? Tired of the razor bumps and wax burns? Then Laser Hair Removal is the ideal treatment for you. This treatment was designed to remove/ reduce your unwanted hair, leaving you with smooth skin year-round.
How does it work?
A laser is a high-energy beam of light that is used to precisely transfer energy into certain tissues of the skin. These beams of light can vary in terms of their strength and are used to treat many areas of the body. Specifically, Laser Hair Removal works by emitting a light that is absorbed by the pigment in hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hair. This damage also prevents or pauses future hair growth.
Reduction of hair growth is seen 10-14 days after your first session, in order to see optimal results and full hair removal/reduction, multiple sessions may be required. Furthermore, factors including hair color, skin pigmentation, and body part of interest can all have an influence on the amount of sessions needed. Typically, 6 to 10 sessions are required, and are followed up by a couple touch-ups in the following year.
Before Treatment
Before your first session, it is important to avoid waxing for 6 weeks in order for the laser to properly identify hair follicles, however, shaving is acceptable during this time. You should avoid going to the sun without sunscreen for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment as any tanning of the skin can result in pigmentation in the areas you plan to laser. On the day before your treatment, you should shave with a clean razor, however, do not shave if you plan on doing a touch-up treatment.
No numbing is required with our laser.
After Treatment
In order to minimize any side effects, you should avoid unprotected sun exposure for 4 weeks following your treatment. You may notice raised bumps or redness on the treated areas, both of which will be reduced and gone within 48 hours. Immediately after your session you may want to apply ice to reduce redness and any reactions you may be having. For the 24 hours following treatment, do not take hot baths and do not engage in exercise to avoid infection.
